One of a Kind Pasta & Grill: The Snapshot

One of a Kind Pasta & Grill is a popular restaurant in the Queen West area of Toronto. Adrenaline approached One of a Kind Pasta & Grill as we are frequent patrons. We suggested a web site that eased the way for existing and new patrons to view the menus online before visiting the restaurant or ordering take out/delivery.

Adrenaline helped create the web site by:

Designed a layout that closely mimics the actual menus in the restaurant
Ensured that the menus print very nicely to a printer
photographed signature dishes and the restaurant itself
Wrote a short introduction to the restaurant
Installed Tracking to measure site use and popularity

The Full Picture

Adrenaline recommended a complete site revamp as their existing site consisted of scanned images of the physical menus. We recommended that real text be used both for quicker performance and to optimize SEO (Search Engine Optimization). Real text, rather than images, is easily changed as well. Together we decided to create a design that mimicked the appearance of the physical menus to help reinforce One of a Kind's elegant brand. We also made the menus printer friendly for those who wanted to print them out.

Success can be measured by the spectacular traffic realized.

Design

In addition to mimicking the design and layout of the physical menus, Adrenaline photograhed signature dishes as well as photographing the restaurant itself. With over 12 separate menus, we designed a categorized top menu so users could easily identify if they need to view the lunch, dinner, or take-out/delivery menus by type of dish.

Standard CSS/XHTML

Adrenaline is committed to coding sites using web standards, which means using CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) for layout and XHTML for content. Using web standards ensures the site is accessible to a broad range of browsers. Standards also make the site Search Engine friendly, by making it easily indexed by the search engines. In addition, by separating presentation and content, the site design can be updated without having to recreate all the site's pages.

Tracking

Adrenaline installs tracking code in all of it's sites, and One of a Kind Pasta & Grill is no different. This allows us the critical measurments to a site's success, namely to view what pages are being viewed, which are the most popular, which are not popular, how long particular content is viewed, and where the content is viewed from. This helps to improve the site by giving us and our clients actual use data. In the case of One of a Kind Pasta & Grill, the site receives a phenomenal amount of traffic for an independant local restaurant. In 2008 over 8500 people visited the site and the pages within the site were viewed over 37000 times. The site has proven to be a great resource and value add for clients of One of a Kind Pasta & Grill.
