Rooms4Biz: The Snapshot
Rooms4Biz wanted a site to market and book rooms for meetings and training. In addition, they wanted a site they couuld manage and which was scalable for future growth, such as adding more facilities and rooms. Adrenaline designed and created a site with all the information needed and implemented a managed marketing and gallery system.
Adrenaline helped create the web site by:
- Building the site with a Content Management System so Rooms4Biz can update the site themselves
- Setting up a Marketing System featuring rotating, clickable advertisements

The Full Picture
Rooms4Biz engaged several communications company for solutions to create a site that would showcase their room configurations with an easy to use interface as well as enable their staff to manage the content of their site. The objective was to be able to display the various types of layouts each room could accomodate without leaving the page the user was on. Adrenaline recommended a solution that did not involve Adobe Flash so that the staff at Rooms4Biz could manage it themselves within a Content Management System. Rooms4Biz found our proposal to be the most flexible and enabling and went with us for development.
Rooms4Biz also wanted to be able to highlight various services through rotating banners and ad space. Adrenaline developed a system whereby Rooms4Biz staff only has to provide images for any given ad and a link to the page the advertisement is highlighting.
Showcasing Room Configurations
Adrenaline came up with a solution that allows users to view rooms by first selecting a location and then a room. One a room page is presented, all the relevant specs are listed, including various configurations, capacity, and dimensions. Currently, each room is offered in three configurations, classroom, u-shape, and seminar. Users can click on the appropriate configuration to view it without moving away from the current page and without the use of a browser plugin, like Flash. Additionally, in the Content Management System, Adrenaline set it up so that additional and exisiting class information is easily updated.
Marketing System
To highlight particular services or specials, Rooms4Biz wanted a self managed marketing system that enabled them to provide their own images for advertisements and link them to the applicable page. Adrenaline made this possible by leveraging the same system we developed for showcasing room configurations. Without the use of Flash and therefore making it much easier for Rooms4Biz to update the advertisements themselves, Rooms4Biz staff can simply add, modify, or replace existing images in the marketing system and set where each advertisement links to and how long it lasts.
The Toolbox
Adrenaline used the following key elements for the website:
- A Content Management System
The Content Management System
A content management system, often referred to as a CMS, is a system that allows individuals who are not programmers to manage the content of the web site. Tasks include change, add, and delete content (text and graphic) as well as add or remove pages as needed. This is done by logging into the system through a browser. The content management is simple and quick, making changes much like you would if you were editing a Word document. With an hours worth of training, anyone can manage the content of a web site using the CMS we designed. The CMS model empowers our clients and allows them to make changes quickly and easily without additional costs. Alternately some clients prefer that we make changes. Our CMS speeds up those changes and saves costs in this model as well.
Content Management Systems also serve as a base to introduce customized functionality. In the case of Rooms4Biz we introduced a classroom configuration and marketing system that is administered within the CMS.
Because the system abstracts content from presentation, another great benefit of using a CMS is that should an organization opt for a new design there is no need to start from the ground up and redo the entire site. We are able to program a new look and use the existing content as well as easily modify the existing content. It's a return on investment that you may not see immediately, but over time it will pay for itself over and over again.
